USCF Tournaments

Did you know there are 3 different USCF (United States Chess Federation) rating systems? They are Regular, Quick and Blitz.

Rated USCF Tournaments will fall under one of the following categories:

Regular only – Total playing time for each player is greater than 65 minutes.

Dual (both regular and Quick) - Total playing time for each player is from 30 – 65 minutes

Quick only – Total playing time for each player is more than 10 and less than 30 minutes

Blitz – total playing time for each player is from 5 to 10 minutes

For our cross round tournaments, we use usually use G/15, d/0, which means each player, if they use a clock from the beginning of the game, gets 15 minutes with no time delay before his/her clock starts. Total time is therefore 15+0=15 per player and falls under the Quick Rating system.
